At the Y, part of our cause is to be a mission in action. We know now more than ever our mission in action will be to identify the community’s needs and provide those identified needed services for child care. The current health crisis has made it imperative that we pivot in the directions of closing the gap in services for working families. Our cause mission to put principles into practice by offering more of an inclusive service related to the local school’s educational structure this school year due to COVID-19 concerns.
We are currently looking at an inclusive service that would provide child care after school at the schools and providing child care programming at the YMCA location on days children have been provide virtual educational materials by their assigned school on certain days. Our staff during program will offer homework assistance and assistance children meet their virtual learning expectations.
Parent(s) will have the option to have their child participate in one of the offer services: After School program or the Inclusive program (after school child care and all day care). Note: the inclusive program will be for children whose school district is not offering classes Monday thru Friday full days.
Inclusive services update (August 14th, 2020): We are currently working with on state to process our new child care license for the Joplin Family YMCA location and we hope to be able to offer full day services on the days the locate school districts are out for a full day. (Note: services will not be offered on early out days). We appreciate your support and patient as we go through this process.
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. We understand the difficulties working families face in raising children, so we are here to provide help with homework and a healthy snack so that time at home is truly family time.
We also have a COVID-19 health protocol that has been put in place since March 23rd, 2020. Our staff experience following outlined protocols and understand the importance of social distancing, face mask, frequent handwashing, disinfecting the activity area(s) and monitoring changes in children’s health.
When your child spends time with the Y after school, they are not returning to an empty house unsupervised. Our training staff create opportunities for children to continue learn, grow and thrive.
