There’s nothing like summer at YMCA Summer Day Camp. We’re here to make your kids feel welcome, try new things, make new friends, and grow. We want to help children foster curiosity and expand their comfort zones and to show kids just what they can accomplish when they believe in themselves.
Week long. Summer long. Life long. Summer Day Camp is about friendships, accomplishments, and belonging. And about making this the Best Summer Ever!
Day Camp counselors are selected carefully, in consideration of their experience, maturity, patience, enthusiasm, and interest in children. To provide the safest possible environment, all counselors have been trained in CPR, first aid, abuse prevention, and effective guidance and discipline. All staff members have passed a state criminal background check.
Each lead counselor is equipped with a call phone and first aid kit in case of emergency. Parents will be given their child’s counselor’s contact information.
We believe that no child should go hungry during the summer months when school is not in session. Therefore, we provide breakfast, lunch and dinner (from 3 pm – 4 pm daily at the YMCA) at no cost through the Summer Food Service Program. Because we are a registered meal site, our dinners from 3 pm – 4 pm are open to members of the community ages 0 – 18 years old completely free.
In a partnership with our local school district, the Y provides access to healthy, nutritious meals that include fresh fruits and low-fat dairy products. Meals are planned based on USDA food pyramid guidelines.
Free meals will be available to children and will be provided without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation or marital family status. To file a complaint of discrimination, write USDA Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W. Whitten Building, 14th and Independence Avenue, SW Washington, D.C. 20250-9410.
Campers in all age groups will have the opportunity to participate in daily structured physical activity. Campers will have opportunities to participate in swimming lessons, conditioning with an athletic trainer and other on/off campus activities.
To enable us time to process your application, please enroll one week prior to attending.
Enrollment forms are available at the Joplin Family YMCA Welcome Center or by clicking the downloadable link below. Drop off completed forms to the Joplin Family YMCA, 3404 W. McIntosh Circle Dr., Joplin, MO, 64804. When you enroll, you will be given two registration options for the summer - a daily plan and a weekly plan. If you choose the daily plan, you may pay the daily rate for any days your child attends Day Camp, and you do not need to give notice of the days they plan to attend. If you choose the weekly plan, you will be responsible for notifying the Child Care Billing Office in WRITING of any changes one week prior to the change. A ONE-TIME, permanent switch is allowed from the weekly plan to the daily drop plan.
We believe that we have something special at the Y and that everyone should have access to it. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and corporate sponsors, we are able to provide financial aid to those who might not otherwise be able to be a part of our Y family.
If you have questions about financial aid for membership or programs, please contact us at 417 781 9622.
