Founded in 1891, the Joplin Family Y is a member-supported, nonprofit organization committed to serving Joplin, MO, and the surrounding area. We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities through two full-service fitness facilities that offer fitness equipment, nutritional counseling, personal training and over 90 group exercise classes per week. In addition, we are the largest provider of childcare in the community, serving children ages 8 weeks through 14 years of age through afterschool care, day camp and a stand-alone childcare center. Our YMCA touches the lives of over 9,000 members and approximately 1,000 program participants per year.
The nation’s 2,400 YMCA's are together the largest not-for-profit community service organizations in America. We work to meet the health and social service needs of 17.5 million men, women and children in 10,000 communities.
YMCAs also stretch beyond the United States. YMCAs are at work in more than 120 countries around the world, serving more than 30 million people. About 230 YMCAs within the United States maintain relationships with Ys in other countries.
Y's are for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. The YMCA's strength is in the people we bring together.
The Joplin Family YMCA is one of the largest area providers of school age childcare and activities and operates in 14 schools and 2 Summer Day Camp locations to serve:
We believe that we have something special at the Y and that everyone should access to it. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and corporate sponsors, we are able to provide financial aid to those who might not otherwise be able to be a part of our Y family.
